WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s not uncommon for a parent and child to share a talent, but in this case, it was the daughter who gave her mother her first lesson.

Lynn and Katherine Graham share a passion for art and on Friday, April 27, they will put on a joint show called “Two Generations – One Passion”. The art opening is from 6-9 p.m. at the historic Burgwin-Wright House in downtown Wilmington.

According to a release, Katherine Graham has been making art for more than 25 years. She creates wall pieces using clay as her canvas. Her inspiration comes from her love of the outdoors and her adventures at home and abroad.

Katherine Graham graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in art. She has worked as a teacher’s assistant in Raku at John C. Campbell Folk School, Penland School of Crafts and her alma mater. She also gives lessons in watercolor.

Her mother, Lynn Graham has been a painter for 20 years and describes her work as an exploration of emotions and images. Her paintings depict recognizable objects or people, but are not necessarily realistic. She always chooses a subject she feels passionate about.

Lynn Graham works on honing her art by attending workshops and taking drawing and painting classes at Cape Fear Community College and the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
