From the Artist
Artist Jon Cox has been impassioned with drawing and painting since he was young. His work has evolved from pencil drawings at a young age to oil and acrylic paintings, print making and sculpture. He earned BA and Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wyoming. While there and at Central Wyoming College, Jon taught design, life drawing, painting, sculpture, stage set design and construction and music technology.

His work ranges from abstract to realism. No matter the style, Jon captures images from the places he lives and visits. Portraits of people, rural landscapes, wildlife, still life, cityscapes and beach scenes make up the bulk of his current work. He has recently been active with animal portraits.

Commission works hang in private homes, government offices, banks, bars and restaurants across the west. His most prestigious project is the design and development of a veteran’s memorial monument and park on the Wind River Indian Reservation in central Wyoming, which was completed in 2022.

Jon and his wife Tammy, also an accomplished artist, live part time in Wyoming and on Oak Island, NC.
